March of the Dragon


Gave in and went back to my original idea :P Done in grayscale first and coloured with the overlay layer. I'll make a tutorial for this and put the link here when its done.

EDIT: OK here is a lil attempt at a tutorial :P....

  1. I think it's great, I really like the composition and the use of the sky as negative space being divided by the strings of lanterns. Did you use any photogrphic textures when you built up the background, or is the texture and details all cusotm brushes and blending?

  2. Yup, I used photo textures to block in things like buildings and pavements. I'll try cover this when I put a tutorial together

  6. I got that off my friend 'Pao' form the CA forums. If u go through his sketchbook you can find a link to download his brushes. You may find a hard time to find that specific one because he has loads of brushes, some I have no idea how to use hehe. Bt if you do download them, the brush is called 'pers' to make things a lil easier.

  7. Really nice ben, i like the shift of the horizon, adds even more energy. I think maybe watch the values, and use them to draw focus, you've used a lot of black which shifts the forms a bit. Lovely feel though and great comp :)
